Steve’s Kids

The first donations

By Jim Lyons | December 15, 2007

I was able to get 4 used systems from my job to donate. As of now, two are complete systems, meaning with a monitor. Two others need a monitor. I hope to get more donations when I receive non-profit status. A friend of my wife (they attended Brooklyn Law School together) is looking into the details for me. A big thanks to Cheryl for all your help!

When I get the non-profit status set up, I will then be able to solicit donations from large companies, like Microsoft, HP, Dell, and Apple.

This weekend is booked, but if someone at P.S. 54 reads this, let me know if we can arrange to drop off the systems before Christmas, as I leave on the 26th for Iowa, to work for Senator Obama.

Steve’s Kids - Technology For P.S. 54 - Brooklyn, New York

By Jim Lyons | October 11, 2007

My Connection to P.S. 54

“The Samuel C. Barnes School.”

My name is Jim Lyons. I used to be a teacher at the school for almost two years. I left to work in the private sector in 1996, but always look back fondly at my time teaching the students of P.S. 54. The school was built in 1922, and still had coal-fired boilers when I worked there. My Principal at the time was Glyn Oliver, who retired in 2005.

I hope to be able to provide the students of P.S. 54 with computers and other technologies to assist in their education.

More to come!
